Why Medicare Supplements over Medicare Advantage Plans?
What You Need to Know about Plan G in Ohio:
Again, the benefits of Medicare Supplement Plans are defined by the government, which means the coverage is the same for each plan letter no matter the cost. We recommend you go with the cheapest carrier offering Plan G (which we’ve included below). All you need to worry about paying is your monthly premium and the yearly Part B Deductible of $233 for any Medicare approved medical services.
The average monthly premium in Ohio for Plan G is $164.08.
If you want the most comprehensive coverage, Plan G is for you. Take a look at what that entails below:

Plan G also offers 80% coverage on foreign travel exchange, which is the highest on Medicare. Since you’ll get this same coverage no matter the monthly premium, we’ve compiled the average cost of Plan G across Ohio.

Should I even consider Plan N in Ohio?
This depends on your situation. In Ohio, excess charges are outlawed. That means doctors cannot bill above the Medicare approved rate for a procedure. So if you’re on Plan N, that “gap” in coverage is generally not one you need to worry about. The exception is if you frequently travel or visit another state where they excess charges are legal (in 42 states, they are). We can also help you decide between Plan G and Plan N your specific case.
The average monthly premium for Plan N in Ohio is $132.07. Same as the other Medicare Supplements, the Plan N we suggest for our clients is the one with the lowest premium, which we’ve included in the Top 5 list below.
If you don’t travel out of state frequently, and premiums in your zip code are lower than those for Plan G, Plan N may be right for you. Take a look at what that entails below:

What about Plan F in Ohio?
Plan F technically offers the most comprehensive coverage of all the Medicare Supplement Plans. However, eligibility for Plan F is closed to people who turned 65 after 2020. If you are eligible, it’s a compelling option, but only if the premium makes sense when comparing against Plan G.
The average monthly premium for Plan F in Ohio is $197.53.
