4. There's a push for prior authorization reform.

, 2 million prior authorization requests were denied in 2021. Of the 11% that were appealed, 82% of these decisions were reversed. This has led the CMS and the AMA topush policymakers to act
this year and move prior authorization forms to a standardized electronic form for many insurers, which might lead to fewer denials of coverage for those with Medicare Advantage plans. The proposal would also require certain insurers to get back prior authorization requests quicker and add transparency to the process. These reforms would take effect in 2026.5.
